2024/1 The Communique Amending the Communique on the Printing Type of Cheque Books and Determination of the Amount that Banks are Obliged to Pay to the Bearer (Number: 2010/2) was published in the Official Gazette dated 27.01.2024.

According to this communique;

– The phrases “six thousand Turkish Liras” in Article 4 of the Communique on the Printing Type of Cheque Books and Determination of the Amount that Banks are Obliged to Pay to the Bearer (Number: 2010/2) published in the Official Gazette dated 20/1/2010 and numbered 27468 have been changed as “nine thousand two hundred and seventy Turkish Liras”.

– The phrases “six thousand Turkish Liras” in the provisional Article 2 of the same Communique have been changed as “eight thousand six hundred and fifty Turkish Liras”.

This amendment will enter into force on 31.01.2024.

COMMUNIQUE ON THE PRINTING TYPE OF CHEQUE BOOKS AND DETERMINATION OF THE AMOUNT THAT BANKS ARE OBLIGED TO PAY TO THE BEARER (NUMBER: 2010/2)(1)

Amount that the bank is liable for

ARTICLE 4- (1) The addressee bank is obliged to pay the bearer other than the presenting issuer, for each cheque leaf presented in due time as follows;

  1. a) In case there is no equivalent at all;

1) Six thousand Turkish Liras if the cheque value is six thousand Turkish Liras or more,

2) Cheque Value if the value of the cheque is less than six thousand Turkish Liras,

  1. b) In case there is partial equivalent;

1) If the cheque value is six thousand Turkish Liras or less, an amount that will complete the partial equivalent to six thousand Turkish Liras, provided that it does not exceed the cheque value,

2) If the cheque value is over six thousand Turkish Liras, six thousand Turkish Liras in addition to the partial equivalent, provided that it does not exceed the cheque value.

PROVISIONAL ARTICLE 2- (1) For cheques issued in accordance with the Communiques published before this Communique, the addressee bank is obliged to make a payment of six thousand Turkish Liras for each cheque leaf if the cheque presented on time is not covered, and if partially covered, the bank is obliged to make a payment of an amount that will complete the partial equivalent to six thousand Turkish Liras for each cheque leaf.
