Amendments in the Registered Electronic Mail Regulation

 

The Regulation on the Amendment of the Regulation on the Procedures and Principles Regarding the Registered Electronic Mail System was published in the Official Gazette dated 13 December 2022 and entered into force. With this amendment, it has become possible to apply for a Registered Electronic Mail account in accordance with the provisions of the Regulation on the Applicant’s Identity Verification Process in the Electronic Communications Sector (“Identity Verification Regulation”) instead of identity card or electronic signature. In addition to the application, it has been regulated that transactions of opening and closing the Registered Electronic Mail account can be made in accordance with the provision of the Identity Verification Regulation besides the secure electronic signature. The Identity Verification Regulation regulates the procedures and principles regarding the process to be applied in order to verify the identity of the applicant in case the documents regarding the subscription contract, number porting application, operator change application, qualified electronic certificate application, registered electronic mail application and SIM change application are issued electronically in the electronic communications sector. According to the provisions of this regulation it is possible that verification process can be made by e-Government Gateway, artificial intelligence, T.R. ID Card, video recording specific to the process.
