The Constitutional Court decision dated 22.02.2024 and numbered 2023/34 E. 2024/60 K. is published in the Official Gazette dated today.
As per the aforementioned Constitutional Court decision;
- The phrase “announced” of the provision ‘The change of name is registered and announced in the civil registry where the name is changed.’ of Paragraph 2 of Article 27 of Turkish Civil Code is unconstitutional and ANNULLED.
- The phrase “and” of the same provision is ANNULLED pursuant to Paragraph 4 of Article 43 of Law on the Establishment and Trial Procedures of the Constitutional Court dated 30.03.2011 and numbered 6216.
The decision shall enter into force 9 (nine) months after its publication in the Official Gazette (16.05.2024).
